Janet is honored that so many of you include her works in your family’s holiday tradition and share in the enjoyment of the images she creates.
Joy Studio is Janet’s work space and creative retreat. She
does most of the sketching and all painting from her dad’s
first drawing table. Janet recalls spending much time
intently observing him seated there as he skillfully
mentored her. It is by far her favorite station in the studio.
Janet began Tidings of Great Joy, LLC in the early 1980’s
and offered a wonderfully crafted line of holiday
ornaments. In the fall of 2000, the company transitioned
into an art licensing franchise, allowing the focus to
return to Janet’s artistic roots.
The company’s name was inspired by the beloved Charlie
Brown Christmas special which has been a part of her
family’s holiday tradition since childhood. In the poignant
scene, Linus begins to tell us the Christmas story in reply
to Charlie’s question. “Can anyone tell me what
Christmas is all about?” The lights go dim, everyone is
quiet, Linus begins. “And there were in the same country
shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by
night.” He continues as he tells us the tidings of a great joy.
